Arts Award Workshop
Posted: 6 months ago
It’s been weeks of workshops for Chew TV, what
with the Find Your Talent Tour going on and everything,
but we’ve also managed to culture young talent not part of the government
scheme and last Wednesday (24th Feb) saw Max, Dan and Martin
delivering a digital media workshop for some Arts Award happenings at the very
fancy TR2 building in Plymouth.
TR2 is part of the Plymouth Theatre Royal and
although it’s only around the corner, the boys were blown away by how
incredible the building is right on the Yacht Haven by the water. A perfect
place to get creative with cameras…
The workshop was part of
an Arts Award and Real Ideas
Organisation collaborative conference,
run by Real Events and Max, Dan and Martin taught the practice of creating digital media with the tools
young people already have at their disposal and are always getting told of for
using… the dreaded mobile phone!
Many young people carry a powerful media tool with them wherever they go and this workshop unlocked the potential of this tool using hands on activities to create a short film and screening event. The young people thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and without them noticing, were encouraged through the learning process, thus providing a future-proof method of delivering media based learning. There were also some very cool films made, from scratch, in less than two hours.
Check
out ‘The Chase’, made by two young
workshop participants who had never made a film before and put the whole thing
together, from scratch (idea generation/ storyboard/ filming and editing), in
less than one hour! Not bad hey! Well done guys!
