One years work experience with Futurelab...
Posted: 7 months ago
Who’s it for?
Anyone aged 14-19 interested in social networking,
human rights, digital technology or marketing.
Futurelab are setting up 10 Infocow partner groups from across the country to work with them for a year from late March 2010 to develop the Infocow website (launching April 2010). Each group needs committed young people supported by a teacher or mentor.
Infocow is a website that supports anyone aged 14-19 to engage with their rights and offers links to the networks, tools and information to help put these into practice. It brings together sites, stories, information and inspiration from the web in an easily to use search format, links to social networks, and has specific information about young people’s rights and entitlements.
As an Infocow partner there are interesting opportunities for voluntary and paid work on the site.
Supported by Futurelab, the groups will be part of the team responsible for running and managing ‘Infocow online’. They will develop an understanding of what it takes to run an online community and the skills to do it. Collectively the group will manage site content, moderate comments, market and spread the work of the site. Other opportunities could include speaking about their experiences of running the site at conferences and other public events.
The work experience post will run for 1 year. With a minimum commitment of 2 hours a month, but there will be more opportunities to be involved depending on your enthusiasm and commitment, this could be up to 8 hours a week for the very committed.
