The Lake Of stars Malawi Festival is heading our way and it’s bent on making an impression. The festival is powered entirely by volunteers and is taking place in Malawi which is located in South- east Africa. Vinspired which helped launch the festival is an organisation which gives volunteers free gig tickets in exchange for volunteering some of their time.

The festival ‘uses arts- tourism to generate revenue and exposure for Malawi.’ By bringing people’s attention to the Malawian artists, sites and future prospects, this festival brings the same level of inspiration such as events like Live Aid but using a more intimate and direct approach. The festival runs from the 15th-17th October 2010, to get details on the best flights and festival tickets call 0871 230 8581.

Now there are some people that want to experience the Malawian festival but can’t make the journey for whatever reason whether it is money or work, they can enjoy some of the Festival warm up events taking place in London. The next event is happening at the legendary Rich Mix on Wednesday 4th August aptly titled ‘Taste of Malawi’ which is FREE expect to see musicians, fashion stalls and digital exhibitions. The Noisettes are heading the next leg of Festival warmer s at the Union Chapel, Islington with support from newcomer Tinashe on Thursday 12th August, for this event you will have to purchase tickets which start from £10.

There is a great line up of acts scheduled for the festival in Malawi such as The Noisettes, Oliver Mtukudzi, Jon Mc Clure, Tinashe, Afrikaan Boy and Peter Mawanga combined with other art forms such as Film, dance, spoken word and art. With great sunny weather and the venue being in Sunbird Nkopola Lodge, Mangochi, Malawi, this is sure to be a great experience. Especially for all the young budding film makers, who can experience a different culture in all its beautiful art forms which I guarantee will leave you feeling inspired.
