Any place can tell a story. It could be a shoe box under your stairs that smells of summer; a tree on the village green with a gnarled smile; a skate park where you first mastered a kick flip; waves crashing against the shore at your favourite part of the coast.Your favourite spot might not be leafy or wild – perhaps it’s made of concrete but the people there inspire you.Friends of the Earth would like to see passion for your bit of the Earth woven into your film. It can be anything from an action movie to a rom com to a documentary, but it must be just 60 seconds long – no more and no less.It might be tricky to squeeze all that emotion into one minute, but with a killer idea, you can do it.
Your film will be judged by a high profile panel including Trainspotting Producer Andrew MacDonald and David Sproxton of Aardman Animation and some great prizes are up for grabs.

Chew TV has joined up with Cultivate, a-first-of-its-kind approach to developing culture in Cornwall through local communities. Young people and young ‘cultivatees’ will be creating films documenting all the cool things they’re getting up to for Chew TV. The ideas that have sprung up for projects already are awesome and no one has mentioned anything about going to the opera…. thankfully! (No offence meant to opera fans!)Watch this space.

We live in a world of moving images. To participate fully in our society and its culture means to be as confident in the use and understanding of moving images as the printed word; both are now essential aspects of literacy.
Film: 21st Century Literacy will encourage existing film education providers to work together to offer young people opportunities to watch a diverse range of films; encourage learning, critical understanding, debate and conversation about films; and enable young people to use film as a vehicle for their own creativity.
For more information about the strategy itself, the organisations involved and all future planned events log on to www.21stcenturyliteracy.org.uk or for more details about how to get involved e-mail info@21stcenturyliteracy.org.uk

It's the year 2199. The city of Anika is under the control of Helix Industries, a mega-conglomerate. A group of rebels fight agains the corporation's totalitarian rule. A girl with ties to the rebels searches for her father. A soldier begins to question what he's fighting for. A group of corporation scientists hurry to control a terrible mistake. All are connected by one thing: a young woman with strange abilities, who's just committed murder...
Helix Industries is a science fiction webcomic that updates every Wednesday.Set in a dark, dystopian city, it centers around themes of freedom, responsibility and morality. I created it based on a story I came up with several years ago, and have been writing it as part of my Silver Arts Award, an arts qualification run by Arts Council England and Trinity Guildhall. Helix Industries is currently (as of 20/May/2008) in its third chapter and has been being posted since June 2007. It is aimed at readers in their mid-to-late teens." C.K. Walsh, author and artist.

There’s loads to do down here in the South West but we do agree it’s sometimes hard to decide what to do on a roasting August evening or horrific December day so that’s where we come in… Chew TV has combined with Cornwall Council to provide an online directory in the form of a new Chew TV channel that will be showing you what there is to do around here and we want your videos of what you get up to in your area that can inspire others. Seeing as Chew TV is run by young people for young people we are actually looking for names for the new channel, any ideas? If you want to take the credit for an awesome new project that will be taking Cornwall by storm then send your name and ideas to Dan at dan@chewtv.com.

That might sound like a huge shout but if you haven’t noticed we’ve had a bit of a re-vamp and your films are now being shown off in bigger and better quality.
You’ve got to admit they are looking pretty slick compared to some of the other IPTV channels out there and we’re definitely up there with the top dogs but the difference is we are showcasing YOUR work.
Chew TV is constantly evolving and developing and as you use and react to the site then you are literally shaping the future of your channel. Let us know what you think…
