Keen Chew TV user, 'Hexjibber', has been getting his awesome animations screened on Chew TV for a while now and this weekend he's unexpectedly getting his masterpieces broadcast on the Glastonbury Big Screen as well BBC Village Screens in 16 main cities across the UK.
The Village Screen is a project which will provide a platform for the best new creative talent in the UK. It’s the result of a unique collaboration between London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Cultural Olympiad, the nation's creative agencies, RELAYS and the BBC.
The screen will be used to showcase the work of some of the best new film making talent to over 177,000 people who have gathered for the world-famous music festival in Somerset.
BBC Big Screens, such as the one at Glastonbury, are being rolled out across the UK in time for the Olympics in 2012, when it is expected they will form a focus for communities to come together and watch the Games. Bristol and Swindon are among the cities in the South West to already boast big screens.
At Glastonbury, there will be two 25m square digital screens, back- to- back, which will broadcast a mix of short films, archive footage, gaming sessions, classic pop and highlights of the BBC's coverage of the Festival from 10.00am to 3.00am every day.
Getting your work used by the world famous BBC is a typical example of the opportunities created by submitting your content to Chew TV, so please submit now!

Encounters International Short Film Festival is developing ideas to include a Young People's Film Festival into their programme. The idea has stemmed from concerns voiced by young people that they do not get enough opportunities to screen their work in cinema and festival settings. With this in-mind Encounters wish to develop an event focused on Young People and the work they produce.
The two-day festival will take place in November 2009 and will be coordinated by a steering group of young people from the Bristol and Bath area, who will hopefully be encouraged to work towards Arts Awards and will work with professional mentors giving them valuable work experience and transferable skills.
This dynamic festival will aim to showcase, support and ultimately celebrate young people's filmmaking. The connection with Encounters will give the young people's work competitive scope, recognition and allow their voices to be heard by a mainstream audience. It will also give them access to some up and coming filmmaking talent and industry professionals.
Encounters are seeking young people between 16-19 who would like to take part in a discussion facilitated by Liz Harkman from Encounters and Clare Simmons from Filton College to dicuss the purpose and shape of the festival for a funding application. This core goup will then have the opportunity to be part of the festival steering committee from September onwards if funding is successful.
Please go along and have your say!
VENUE: Bristol Foyer, Victoria St, Bristol, BS1 6DT at 4.00pm on Thursday 25th June and will last no more that two hours - juice and biscuits provided. Please confirm attendence to liz.harkman@encounters-festival.org.uk

Have you ever written down a dirty word, just to make it lose its power? How about 20 000 words?
Where have our taboos gone? Are they only shovelled deeper and into darker caves as we enter second lives and virtual worlds, or did we let them breath some air?
We want your hidden thoughts, views on things you or some would not usually touch. Take us to the fields of your black sheep. Or do it not, because it’s taboo.
Every country has its closet of secrets, the caves or archives of issues preferred to be kept away from the daily discussions. What was banned in the past is now accepted…And a taboo in the East might just be a pride in the West or vice versa.
The theme this year is......... "TABOO”!
NISI MASA launches the 8th European Script Contest! If you are between 18 and 28 years old and live in one of the 19 countries of the network, you can write a short script (20 000 characters) about “TABOO” until the 31st of July 2009.
12 winners will be awarded a full scholarship for European Short Pitch, an intensive scriptwriting and pitching workshop, divided in two sessions. Read more about rules and regulations (available in English, Estonian, Finnish, French and Romanian) in the attachments.
More infos about the Script Contest (scriptwriting guidelines and rules & regulations in many other languages, as well as an FAQ and an entry form for scripts) available soon.

SyncShare is a website that brings together tracks from the best unsigned bands and artists, for filmmakers to use as soundtracks to their projects. And what's more, all the music featured on SyncShare can be instantly downloaded at whatever price suits the filmmakers' budget!
At a glance the concept may sound crazy, but don't let that put you off. Founding members Seb and Oscar explain...
"After spending a number of years touring in various unsigned bands, we began to realise how difficult it is to get your music heard. MySpace is great to a certain point, but there's so much content that it's almost impossible to differentiate yourself from everyone else."
Seb Berrios, along with Oscar Bloomfield-Crowe, an experienced composer for film and media, devised SyncShare as a platform where filmmakers can access original and authentic soundtracks for their work, while artists gain exposure through having their music featured in films.
"The term 'unsigned music' often carries a certain stigma, but these are bands of the same quality that you'd hear on any commercial radio station, the only difference is that they're waiting for the right opportunity that could launch them to the next level."
So why would they offer such great music and not demand a fee?
..."We are aware that every filmmaker is working to a different budget. An educational project may allow a few hundred pounds for the music, whereas a student project is often produced on a shoestring. We wanted to make the service available to everyone."
"These are all bands that are just keen to get their music out there, and any money involved is a bonus."
The site is now up and is receiving a high degree of interest from both the independent film and music industries. Check it out for yourself at... www.syncshare.co.uk

We have all read Dylan Spicer's weekly blogs so we know he's got a talent for writing and so it is no surprise that he has just won Chew TV's Critical review competition for the second time!
Dylan won for his review of 'Nine Lives' a Sharp Shotz film. Click on the link to watch the film and read the review: http://www.chewtv.com/index.aspx?film=562
Claire Easson Basset, a BBC Blast coordinator for the SW judged April's competition, here is what she wrote about Dylan's fab review:
“The review is written for the viewer and, although referring to some technicalelements, considers the overall story and message. The reviewerunderstands what the reader wants to know and their level of existingknowledge. The style of writing is approachable, readable and it makes mewant to see the film”
If you want to be in with a chance of winning a fantastic book from the Michael Weise Film production range: http://shop.mwp.com then simply hit the 'have your say/ review icon after watching one of the great films on the site and submit your thoughts of the film, have a look at others for inspiration...

YouTube is considering paying "large cheques" to ITV and Channel 4 in the UK in a bid to beat Hulu and stave off potential fall-out from the government's Digital Britain report.
The Next-generation media and entertainment site, C21media.net, tells us that YouTube is for the first time weighing up whether to fork out significant sums of money to secure the kind of premium content it needs to attract advertisers to its website.
The development comes at the same time as Hulu is believed to be offering equity stakes to ITV and Channel 4 to create Hulu UK, a joint venture following a similar model to that with which NBC Universal and News Corp originally launched in the US.
"They signed a deal with Disney for a few clips and then three weeks later Disney took 30% of Hulu. There's a sense that they feel out-manoeuvred in the US and they're not going to let that happen here." A source familiar with the discussions told C21.
Hulu is also upping the ante by starting to stream live music events. And YouTube is further being spurred on by rumoured disillusionment among other broadcast partners it has struck shortform deals with, fearing that disappointment at the revenues it's delivering may prompt a backlash.
Cheers C21Media for the heads up on this one!
