Rights Bytes is an inspirational digital media programme, cultivating an online pool of short films and animations made by children and young people from around the world, exploring articles from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child as they relate to their lives and experiences. Over time we envisage a tapestry of moving image media will evolve encompassing the entire convention, and through doing that provide an invaluable resource for educators and advocates of children’s rights; whilst giving thousands of young people an opportunity to collaborate with professional filmmakers and artists, developing skills and making their voices heard.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED Rights Bytes is where you can view, review and tell the world your thoughts about Children’s Rights. You can also make and submit your own Rights Byte film to the channel by following these simple guidelines: 1. Think about your rights, in your life, where you live. 2. Choose an article from the Convention on the Rights of the Child. You can find out more about the Convention at www.unicef.org.uk/youthvoice/crc.asp 3. Think about how you can use film, music, story, poetry, animation, any form of digital media to communicate with other children, young people (and the adults who are responsible for protecting your rights) across the world. 4. Make a film no more than 3 minutes long – you can do this by yourself, with friends, at school, with help from filmmakers and artists, family or youth-workers, using a mobile phone, video camera, computer, whatever you have available. 5. Register on Chew TV and follow the simple online submission guidelines.
