Chew TV is a pioneering IPTV portal run by and for young people. It aims to give a voice to young people and to provide a platform and network for new talent in digital media.
Chew TV is a Community Interest Company (CIC), which basically means we’re all right! CIC’s are regulated and we have to live up to our stated aims which are to ethically run Chew TV for the benefit of young people.
Chew TV has grown out of another CIC called RiO and has received support and funding from Creative Partnerships and Cornwall Film. Chew TV also receives a lot of support from our other partners – Twofour and South West Screen.
The channel is based in the South West, but Chew TV connects young people and showcases work across the country and around the world.
Our headquarters are in Cornwall…the UK’s premier venue for new media, surfing and pasties.
What we do...
Chew TV uses the power of connecting people through new media to share the opinions, represent the views, show the talent and support the campaigns of young people.
Chew TV is extremely simple to use, free to view and provides a whole new way for young people to share their views and showcase their hard graft with other young people.
Promoting talent
As well as trying to instigate social change through the passion and energy of young people. Chew TV also acts as a link between young talented filmmakers and TV producers and is tracked by industry professionals and leaders.
So what does this actually mean in practice… Well it means that you can view and share the creations of a talented bunch of young people. If you are one of those talented types you can upload your work to show to the world and find out how to make the most of your talent.
Programming
The most compelling content that is submitted to Chew TV will be put into our programme schedule. So our daily programme schedule is where you can find out what our young media makers find important, beautiful, frightening, funny or just crazy.
Resources
There is information in the resources section on how to hone your skills, where to find funding and support and we’re currently building a calendar to keep you up to date with relevant events in your area.

Have Your Say
You can have your say on any of the issues raised in the programmes, and if there are any issues that provoke a strong response we’ll react to this, which leads us on to…
Campaigns
We feel strongly at Chew TV that the passion and energy that young people have is the crucial ingredient for meaningful social change (and there are lots of things that need to change…)
In a society that usually undervalues or misrepresents the views of young people, we are committed here to doing the exact opposite and enabling the will of an individual young person who wants to make a change for the better to connect up with other young people who feel the same and then who knows what might happen!
As the legend Douglas Adams said “The best way to predict the future is to build it”
Look out for our ‘campaigns’ channel coming soon. Here you’ll be able to join one of our existing campaigns, start your own and follow their progress.
Channels
Chew TV is also becoming a central platform for other organisations or groups who share the core values of Chew TV. The channels are widening the resources and opportunities for Chew TV users, and provide a secure and high profile platform for these related groups.
If you are an organisation or group who work with and provide related opportunities for young people then you might be interested in having a channel within Chew TV. Click on ‘Channels’ on the homepage to view the current channels and to find out more information about how to get your own.
